Eindhoven Airport sustainability

Eindhoven Airport in The Netherlands is taking additional measures to become more sustainable. The airport has decided that, from 2030 at the latest, only the latest-generation aircraft, such as the A320neo and 737 MAX, will be welcome. This implicates that aircraft such as the 737-800 and the A320ceo family may no longer land or take-off at this airport.

The successors of these aircraft types make up to 50 per cent less noise and emit 15 to 20 per cent less CO2. As part of its new sustainability plans, Eindhoven Airport will also increase the blending requirement for sustainable fuels, with financial support from the airport. Furthermore, the airport will implement a new take-off procedure with the least noise pollution for the immediate surroundings.

After 2027, the airport wants to switch to the new control model in which the total noise emissions are leading rather than the number of flights. From then one, growth can only be achieved with quieter aircraft. By 2030, both CO2 emissions and noise emissions must be 30 per cent lower than in 2019.
