Delta introduces first electric catering truck at Schiphol

Delta Air Lines has introduced its first fully electric catering truck at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The zero-emission truck will supply Delta's aircraft at the gate for three months, providing supplies for five to six planes a day, taking about 25 minutes to supply two to three aircraft.

This new initiative reduces both CO₂ emissions and pollution from diesel. It will have a significant impact on the reduction of CO₂ emissions, as a catering truck travels more than 1,800 miles per year while the engine continues to run during the loading process. The electric truck does not emit any CO₂ during all these activities, and eliminates the weekly refueling and regeneration process of the particulate filter.

Delta is taking steps to use only electric vehicles at Schiphol and on a larger scale at other international airports. Delta EMEAI Field Director Markus Wegner said, "This initiative has an immediate positive impact on reducing greenhouse gases and creates a better work environment for our below-wing teams." With the launch of the electric catering truck, Delta is working to support Schiphol Airport's goal for all vehicles to be emission-free by 2030.
