Cape Town best in Africa for business tourism events
Congress and convention organisers regard Cape Town (South Africa) as the best location in Africa for business tourism events. The International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) chose Cape Town as the number one city in Africa to hold such events.
ICCA represents over 1,000 specialised companies and organisations that are in the business of organising, transporting, and accommodating international meetings and events, in almost 100 countries worldwide. To choose the best congress and convention cities in the world, ICCA evaluated 12,212 international association meetings.
Based on the results of this survey, Cape Town climbed 15 places to be ranked in the Top 40 destinations for business tourism in the world. The city won for the fourth year in a row, beating competitors such as Johannesburg, Marrakech and Nairobi.
On CBN, Cape Town mayor Patricia De Lille, expressed her appreciation of the fact that her city was once again chosen as the events capital of Africa. "We are determined to change the perception that Cape Town is only a top leisure tourism destination. We are the ideal place for the world to meet to talk business.”
