Macau is adding another visually striking hotel to its skyline. Should your business take you to this entertainment city, the new 1,400-room MGM Cotai Casino and Resort will be hard to miss. The entrance to MGM's second casino resort in Macau is guarded by an 11-metre tall statue of a lion, gilded in 23-karat gold leaf.

MGM Cotai, an investment of US$3.4 billion, has taken five years to build. The property is located on the edge of downtown Macau, overlooking the outer harbour, only five minutes’ drive from the main ferry terminal.

The new hotel is actually an integrated casino, hotel and entertainment complex. It has a very large spa, eight restaurants, several bars and a multi-sensory theatre, with a 900-square-metre 4K or ultra HD LED screen – the size of three tennis courts. The screen will offer audiences 28 million pixels of viewing pleasure and ultra-high-resolution live video streaming.

The hotel also boasts a huge atrium. This is where the MGM Cotai sets itself apart from the other shiny Vegas-style properties of Macau. In the atrium and in the other public spaces, the hotel is displaying one of the world's largest collections of art. Over 300 captivating works are to be discovered, from antique carpets dating from the Qing Dynasty to modern and contemporary Asian paintings and sculptures by renowned artists, freshly-commissioned works by local and regional rising talents, and large-scale interactive installations.
