World’s most friendly and unfriendly cities
South Africa’s cities of Johannesburg and Cape Town are featured in Conde Nast Traveler magazine's annual Readers' Choice Survey, for positive and negative reasons.
Cape Town ranks eighth on CN Traveler’s list of ‘the world’s most friendly cities’. Reviews say that Cape Town is "the most amazing place on Earth" thanks to its mix of nature, beaches and mountains. South Africa's business city Johannesburg finished top of a less popular list, as it is now officially ‘the world’s most unfriendly city’. Johannesburg was reviewed as "one of the most beautiful" cities, but "safety still remains a serious concern" with one reader calling it "a city of crime and contrasts."
