What’s happening in hotels in 2020?
What will 2020 bring to hotels catering for business travelers? What will be the most important trends for this year? One thing is for sure: hotels will launch new technologies to offer additional convenience to travelers.
Lodging Magazine offers four predictions for 2020. The first of ‘Four Hotel Technology Predictions for 2020’ by Jorge Agnese of OZ digital consulting firm is that hotels will utilise more virtual reality technology to better market their product. Also, hoteliers will increasingly tap into data made available via IoT (internet of things) technology to learn more about guest behavior and gain insights into hotel operations.
Also, more hotels will add facial recognition to speed up their check-in process and give guests a more convenient option. “With facial recognition technology, guests returning to a property or brand can skip the line at check-in and opt to have a camera identify them instead of showing ID to front-desk staff.”
In 2020, Agnese expects hoteliers to work with vendors to find new and creative ways to incorporate robots into their operations and guest experience – such as delivering food from rooms service or items such as a complimentary tooth brush or a clean towel.
