“Welcome back” – pickup your groceries from the airport
Online grocers and airports are increasingly joining forces to make life for business travellers and expats easier, by offering grocery pickup points on airports.
After Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Dutch grocer Albert Heijn introduced a groceries pickup point at the P3 longterm parking lot, another innovation is launched in Helsinki. Travellers arriving at Helsinki Airport’s Terminal 2 can now order their groceries to be delivered to the arrivals hall ready for when they pass through customs.
Online grocery store Alepa's Kauppakassi has launched a pilot for the innovative service, that will cost € 5 per pickup. Finnish airport operator Finavia says it is investing strongly in improving passenger satisfaction. Customers order their groceries from the online store and select a desired pick-up time. They will finds their goods in a locker at the pick-up point. The locker can be opened with a code that is sent by text message to their mobile phones. Pick-up is available nearly 24-hours a day, order can be placed at least three hours before pickup. Helsinki Airport is the first Nordic airports to operate the service.
