Traveller trend in 2014: Explosion in mobile bookings
More and more travellers are using their smartphones or tablets to book their trips. The percentage of travellers who have used a mobile device to purchase travel went up dramatically, from 23% in 2012 to 38% in 2014.
According to Travel Weekly's 2014 Consumer Trends survey, shows that laptops have been replaced by tablets to perform bookings. Smartphones are becoming the device of choice for purchasing travel, in Europe and the US. Experts estimate that by the end of 2014, 50% of Americans will have booked some kind of travel product on a mobile device.
On Travelweekly.com Norm Rose, president of Travel Technology Consulting, expects that the ‘phablet’, a cross between a smartphone and a tablet, will lead to an explosion in travel bookings, for reasons of convenience.
