This is the new Amsterdam Schiphol terminal
With the airport becoming more popular every year among travelers, Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is building a brand new terminal. The airport has chosen the design of KAAN Architects for its new passenger terminal, that is to be completed by 2023. This is how it will look.
The new terminal is to allow for an extra 14 million passengers to travel through Schiphol annually. It is not a completely new building, but an expansion of the existing terminal. The new terminal will form an expansion of Schiphol's existing terminal and will adjoin Departure Hall 1 and Arrival Hall 1.
Adding capacity this way helps retain the airport’s famous one terminal concept. Schiphol’s CEO Jos Nijhuis, says: "This design suits the Schiphol DNA. That was the main reason why the jury decided to choose this design.”
The design by KAAN Architects has many qualities, says Nijhuis: "The design solution contributes to excellent processing, it provides optimal support to passengers, contributes to our sustainability ambitions and is future-proof.
The terminal project is the largest of its kind since 1993, when the airpoirt built its current Departure Halls 3 and 4 and Arrival Halls 3 and 4.
