The world’s most liveable city: Vienna
Nice to know if you are going there on a business trip or if your next job takes you there: Vienna is the most liveable city in the world. The capitol of Austria ranks first in the Economist Intelligence Unit’s global liveability index.
The Economist Intelligence Unit’s global liveability index ranks 140 global cities on a number of criteria. Each city is assigned a score for over 30 qualitative and quantitative factors across five broad categories of Stability, Healthcare, Culture and environment, Education and Infrastructure.
Vienna scores well on almost every aspect. It is a safe city, with an exceptionally low crime rate. It took over first place in the index after Australia’s Melbourne won the title for the past seven years.
After Vienna and Melbourne, Osaka in Japan came third followed by Calgary in Canada, while Sydney is fifth. According to TravelWeekly Asia, sixth spot was taken by Vancouver and there is a tie for seventh between Tokyo and Toronto. Damascus retained last place, followed by Dhaka (Bangladesh) and Lagos in Nigeria.
