The hotel business centre is disappearing
Remember the hotel business centre? It is about to disappear, now that most business travellers have smartphones and apps that help them deal with most on-the-road challenges.
On ehotelier.com, well-known hospitality writer Larry Mogelonsky has published an obituary for the business centre. Gone are the days that business travellers crowded the centres to refine presentations, print materials, prepare travel itineraries or work on other business matters.
Mogelonsky advises hotels to offer one or two ‘loaner’ laptops (one Mac and one PC) and use the former business centre space for other purposes. For example: a popup store, an art gallery, a wedding/catering sales centre displaying finest table settings available or a reception area to host events.
