Ritz-Carlton leads business travel hotels
Business travellers regard Ritz-Carlton as the number one chain in business travel hotels. The Luxury Collection and Kimpton came second and third in a combined survey by Travel+Leisure (T+L) and Fortune Magazine.
According to the survey, Ritz-Carlton has successfully re-shifted its focus from ‘service and tradition’ to “a new design ethos that puts an emphasis on chic, modern aesthetics with a strong sense of place”. A good example of this approach, as T+L reports, is the recently opened Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto. The hotel combines panoramic views of the Kamagawa river and Higashiyama mountains with a Meiji-style minimalism in the natural-wood interiors.
Ritz-Carlton introduced new club floors in its hotels, offering apartment-like ambience and amenities (residential kitchens; TV rooms; reading salons) to help business travellers feel at home while abroad. The top 10:
1. Ritz-Carlton
2. The Luxury Collection (Starwood)
3. Kimpton
4. Waldorf Astoria
5. Fairmont
6. Four Seasons
7. Grand Hyatt
8. JW MArriott
9. Omni
10. InterContinental
