Rail project to connect Bangkok’s airports
Thailand is ready start the construction of a major high-speed rail project that is to connect Don Mueang, Suvarnabhumi and U-Tapao airports. The 224-billion-baht (€5.9 billion) project is expected to be complete by end-2023.
According to TravelWeekly Asia, the airport-linking railway will be approximately 220 kilometres-long. Its high-speed trains will reach up to 250km/h. The network will use the current Phaya Thai-Suvarnabhumi Airport Rail Link's (ARL), with extensions to be built linking Don Mueang and U-Tapao.
The Thai government is setting up the project to further develop the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), with regionally important cities such as Chachoengsao, Chon Buri and Rayong.
