Québec City first ‘Apple Watch Airport’
“Attention, attention, please go to gate A3 to help speed up boarding procedures”. This is the type of message workers at Canada’s Québec City’s international airport may receive on their brand new Apple Watch.
Airport World reports that Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB) became the first airport in to introduce the Apple Watch. Staff is using the watches to connect to the airport's existing management systems and push regular operational alerts to duty managers. This way the watches will play a part in efforts to ensure operations run more efficiently and smoothly, with less delays.
The airport operates SITA’s Airport Management solution to offer important notifications to duty managers when actions are needed. The big difference is that airport staff is no longer required to check their tablets for updates. If any operational bottleneck comes up, relevant staff can be notified directly via their Apple Watch.
