Noma – Copenhagen: the world’s best restaurant
Danish restaurant Noma has once again been crowned as the world's best restaurant. The restaurant has regained its position after it was beaten in 2013 by El Celler de Can Roca, a Spanish family restaurant.
The 45-seat restaurant in a dockside warehouse, headed by chef René Redzepi, is famous for its focus on reinvented, seasonal Nordic cuisine, and features unusual ingredients sourced from the local landscape, such as reindeer moss and cod liver.
The ‘Best Restaurant’ competition’s judges applaud Noma for reinventing the restaurant after finishing 2nd place in 2013. What is on the menu? The jury: “Diners are introduced to Noma’s food via its inimitable series of ‘snacks’ – 10 servings that include the likes of sea urchin toast and caramelised milk and cod liver. These are followed by 10 further courses – a dish of beef tartar and ants among them – before the meal is rounded off with a stunning array of ‘treats’.
