New airport terminal at Muscat International
Oman’s international airport is opening a new passenger terminal building. Muscat International airport will switch operations to its new 345,000sqm passenger terminal building, with many up-to-date facilities.
The new terminal has an increased capacity of 20 million passengers annually, and provisions for this to increase in stages to 24, 36 and eventually 48 million. The new services comprise of 45 boarding bridges and 29 contact stands, 96 check-in desks, 12 transfer desks, ten self-service check-in kiosks, and ten baggage reclaim belts (eight international and two domestic).
The official start of operations at the New Passengers Terminal Building will be on Tuesday 20th of March 2018. From that day on, all incoming flights and departures from the current airport will be transferred to the new terminal. Once the new terminal opens the airport will be known as New Muscat International.
