London expects record number of hotel openings

2020 will become a big year for hotel development in London. The supply of hotel rooms will receive a huge boost, as nearly 8,000 hotel rooms are due to open across 65 new hotels next year, a record high for the UK capital.

BusinessTraveller reports that the huge pipeline for 2020 became clear in statistics from London and Partners, the Mayor of London’s promotional agency. In 2019 and 2020 there are expected to be 14,840 new rooms across 121 hotels.

One in ten new hotels are five-star properties, 31 per cent are four-star and 26 per cent are budget. Among the new openings are The Londoner on Leicester Square (expected to open in 2020), the Pan Pacific London (2020), and the Rosewood Hotel (2023).
