Heathrow embraces biometrics services
London Heathrow Airport is going to invest heavily in biometrics services. The airport promises that, from next summer, passengers will have a better-streamlined journey thanks to biometrics tech.
As the airport announces, the €56 million investment in new technology will be a first for Heathrow. Other airports, like Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, have done successful tests with biometric boarding in 2017.
BreakingTravelNews reports that Heathrow promises to introduce facial recognition at check-in, bag drops, security lanes and boarding gates to create a seamless experience for passengers travelling through the airport. The services are intended to provide a (fast) alternative for passengers who currently still have to present different documents such as boarding cards, booking reference numbers and passports to different agents to show that they’re authorised to travel.
