Get a ‘mobile room key’ in HTL Stockholm
One of the top tech trends that will shape hospitality is the mobile room key. According to Hotel News Now, the smartphone will become crucial in hotel room access. One of the first hotels that offer this new technology is HTL Kungsgatan Hotel in Stockholm.
At the HITEC conference for hotel technology, it was clear that mobility – smartphones, tablets and laptops – are the backbone of innovation in the hospitality industry. HTL, a new hotel brand that opened its first property in Stockholm in May, is one of the first hotels to offer guests the ability to check-in while in transit and receive a room key directly on their mobile phone.
The hotel does not have a front office in the traditional sense of the word. Guests are welcomed in the lobby by hosts. Guests that have downloaded the HTL app (available via Google Play or iTunes) can have a mobile room key. When enabled, the phone speaks to the door locks via a Bluetooth low-energy signal. Operating the key is easy. Just stand in front of the door and press unlock. Only guests that have prepaid can have a mobile room key.
