Famous Britannia Hotel (Trondheim) reopens

After an extensive four-year renovation, the Britannia Hotel in the Norwegian city of Trondheim has reopened for business. After the reopening of this hotel, a member of Leading Hotels of the World, offers 246-rooms and 11 suites.

The rejuvenated iconic property is set in the city of Trondheim, located on the fjords of central Norway and just sixty miles south of the Arctic Circle.

The four-year, €142 million renovation, gave the historic hotel a fresh look. The Britannia originally opened in 1870 for aristocratic Britons in search of the world's best salmon fishing. For decades, the hotel had the reputation of being the world's most northerly palace hotel.

Luxury Travel Magazine reports that the refurbished hotel has six restaurants and bars. The property also features the latest technology, enhanced amenities and cutting-edge Norwegian and Scandinavian design and art. There is a new Britannia Spa with a heated indoor pool, six treatment rooms, multiple saunas, an ice bath, relaxation room, Jacuzzi, gym, infrared cabin and more.
