Enjoy the art and splendor of Quito’s city centre
Quito: city of Business as well as a city of colonial atmosphere
Ecuador’s capital is both the political and the economic heart of the country. This vibrant modern town is a much visited business destination. Quito has more than enough capacity for conferences, meetings and events and of course there are many interesting sights to visit.
Take the yelllow cab
Looking at the growing number of travelers visiting Quito, the government is working hard to accommodate them. The first step was opening the new Mariscal Sucre International Airport which offers comfortable gate lounges, spacious restrooms and cozy waiting areas. You’ll find a wide offer of duty free shops and there are more than 20 commercial stores including restaurants, news agents and souvenir shops. The new terminal has a designated area for the Galapagos check-in process. There is also a business lounge, which is accessible for a fee of US$ 20.
Quito is currently building an underground metro system, which connects the city with the hinterland. Still it is being advised to travel by taxi instead of public transportation. There are more than 8,000 taxis in Quito which enables you a quick and easy move around the city. The official taxis are yellow, provided with the municipal permit stickers clearly identifiiable on the door and meter. The minimum fare is $ 1. Most travel between 10 and 20 minutes within the city will cost between $ 2 and $ 3.

The new opened Quorum Quito Convention Center and the Alpha Point business center have been designed to meet the needs and demands of the growing number of corporate, meetings and incentive travelers to Quito. The Convention Center houses a capacity for up to 3,200 delegates. Here you will find 15 modular rooms capable of accommodating groups of 25 to 2,200. They are all equipped with state of the art technology; offering technical efficiency for events, conventions and business meetings.
Soon the Metropolitan Convention Centre will open its doors on the property of what used to be Quito’s international airport. This newly assigned complex will have a convention center with a capacity of 3,000 delegates, an Exhibition Space capable of hosting 6,000 guests, an Events Arena for a variety of shows with a capacity of 9,000 spectators and an outdoor space for more than 30,000 visitors. In addition to these facilities, the complex will also feature commercial stores and entertainment spaces.
