Book the hotel with the best Wi-Fi service
Find out about the quality of hotel internet connections before you book. Check out the new website Hotel Wi-Fi Test to avoid disappointment.
A hotel can have wonderful king-size beds, a great bar and attentive staff, but what if Wi-Fi service is spotty and bandwidth is limited? Would you stay there? The Hotel Wi-Fi Test offers rankings for a great number of business travel destinations based on speeds tests performed by guests. The cities currently included on the site are New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas, London, Singapore, Bangkok, Amsterdam and Hong Kong.
On the day we checked the website to plan for a trip to New York, the Da Vinci Hotel, near Rockefeller Center, topped the list. The hotel offers a expected speed of 53.1 Mbps, up to a maximum of 110 Mbps. Great test results are also shown for New York Hilton Midtown, Ramada New York/Eastside, JW Marriott Essex House New York and La Quinta Manhattan on 17 West 32nd Street. These five hotels top the Wi-Fi speed list for New York, based on bandwidth potential and confidence value based on how many speed tests were taken, how recently they occurred and the diversity of the tests (what time of day and during peak travel season).
The site also offers a real-time feature that lets guests determine how well the Internet is working at the hotel they are currently visiting.
