Bleisure Travel – business travel with a leisure twist
Business travellers are adding more quality – leisure – time to their trips. Tourists add some business hours to their pool time, working in their room or at the beach resort bar. Mixing business with pleasure and the other way around is a trend according to several business travel reports.
More business travellers extend their stay at their destination for leisure purpose. It is called ‘bleisure travel’ or ‘bizcation’ and involves business trip leading to a vacation, with some rest & relaxation - R&R.
According to a recent survey by the research firm Ipsos for Pullman Hotels the availability of mobile devices fuels the trend. About 43 per cent of international travellers always take their mobile professional devices with them on holiday or on weekend trips; The Chinese and the Brazilians are the most connected travellers, French and German travellers mix their professional and private lives the least. Of the French, 59 per cent still have a very negative opinion about mobile devices; they regards them as a source of stress.
Other surveys say that more business travellers take their families on a business trip. A business travel report published by Orbitz in 2012 among 600 American business travellers said 72 per cent take extended executive trips that have a leisure component.
