Airbnb targets the business traveller
One year after introducing a fully redesigned booking dashboard, Airbnb is adding a feature that will help target the business traveller. With the new feature, an executive assistant, co-worker, or travel manager can now book a room or home on behalf of another employee.
Airbnb is getting more popular, not only for leisure travel, but also for business travel. More than 50,000 businesses already use Airbnb for business travel.
Fortune reports that there was one thing missing in the new dashboard Airbnb launched in 2015: the feature to book a trip for someone else. According to the company’s own stats, 11% of bookings for business travel on Airbnb are made by someone other than the traveller. With the new feature, Airbnb displays to the host when a user is not booking a room or home for himself.
The story explains that Airbnb actually has its roots in business travel. The founders came up with the idea when they needed extra money to pay their rent, and travellers needed extra rooms during a design conference in San Francisco.
