First destination in West Africa to receive the ultramodern 516-seater

Abidjan, the capital of Côte d’Ivoire, will be the first destination in West Africa that will be served on a regular base by Airbus A380 aircraft. As from the 2014-2015 winter season, Air France will offer three flights per week to Abidjan with this aircraft.

Abidjan welcomes Air France A380 3 times a weekFrom 26 October 2014 to 28 March 2015, Air France will serve Abidjan with this ultramodern passenger aircraft; the other four flights per week will be operated by Boeing 777-300. This flight will be operated during the daytime on the way to West Africa and at night on the way back.

To Air France, operating the large A380 on flights to this part of the world is a sensible decision. With its growing economy, Côte d’Ivoire (300 million inhabitants) aims to become the main hub and gateway to West Africa.

The Air France A380 visited Abidjan once before. It was a special flight on 28 January 2014 for the International Forum for Investments in Côte d’Ivoire; with this flight, Air France confirmed its ambition to make Abidjan the second destination on the African continent to be served by its superjumbo after Johannesburg and the first in French-speaking Africa.
