A new bird in the sky – the MC-21 from Russia
On your business travels you come across some unknown birds in the sky, different from the Boeings and Airbus aircraft you are familiar with. The latest addition to the world’s passenger aircraft fleet is the new MC-21 plane, from Russia’s state-owned United Aircraft Corporation.
The UAC aircraft manufacturers have recently revealed the new brand new MC-21 passenger aircraft for the first time. The first aircraft of this type was built at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant; the ceremony was attended by Russian prime minister Dmitry Medvedev.
The MC-21-300 version of the aircraft is designed to accommodate up to 211 passengers, competing with the Airbus A320neo, and Boeing’s B737 MAX aircraft. The MC-21-200 will carry up to 176 passengers, and the longer MC-21-400 up to 230 passengers. First delivery will be in 2017.
