H2AmpCart: mobile hydrogen-powered charger for airport ground services

Universal Hydrogen and JBT AeroTech work together closely in the development of the hydrogen-powered GSE charger. The technology will help ground handling services use clean energy without building new infrastructure.

The H2AmpCart is the answer to the demand from airlines and airports, that are finding infrastructural challenges in moving towards the use of electric GSE. At many airports, there is limited availability of renewable electricity on the grid.

The new modular hydrogen fuel cell-powered charger enables ground handling service companies to accelerate their conversion to electric power GSE, Airport Technology reports.

The device is an innovative mobile battery charger, the H2AmpCart. The developers aim to showcase a demonstration unit by the end of the year and to bring it into service by the end of 2024.
