Passengers of Air France can now enjoy on-board entertainment in 2D of 3D. The airline is offering the use of virtual reality headsets on selected flights and aircraft in a pilot project that allows films or series to be watched in the passengers’ own virtual private movie theatre.

On A340 flights between Paris CDG and St Martin, four VR headsets are available in business class, offering a selection of films and series that are particularly suitable to be watched in VR. Air France has chosen to do the pilot with San Francisco-based start-up Skylights for its promise to improve the customer experience.

In this experience, the cinema field of view on the HD widescreen is the main attraction. Depending on the results and feedback from passengers, Air France will consider offering this service on other aircraft and flights. According to BusinessTraveller, Skylights has also partnered with TGV France-Italy to allow first class rail passengers to try the service during their trip.
