Sweet dreams in a former Boston prison

If you are going to visit Boston on your next business trip, try staying at a prison. The Liberty Hotel, a former 160-year-old prison is now one of the best hotels in town. The hotel that the former Charles Street Jail was converted into boasts a landmark cupola, iron gates and original cells.

From within your hotel room, you get the same great views of Charles River as the inmates used to have. The wonderful Boston hotel still provides minimalist interiors, but of a different, more stylish kind.

The food offering has probably improved a lot since the prison years. As a hotel inmate, you can enjoy dinner at the hotel outlets with names that reflect jail time, such as the stylish CLINK restaurant and Alibi bar. The hotel reflects the old days, with vestiges of jail cells, catwalks and three-storey arched windows. One of the great features of this hotel is that you can walk out anytime; its location next to Beacon Hill, the Charles Street/MGH station provides easy access to the city centre.
