The World Tourism organisation expects 134 million tourists to travel to Africa by 2030. What hotel chains are ready to deal with the expected of leisure travellers as well as business travellers? Marriott International, AccorHotels and Tsogo Sun have the largest presence on the African continent.  

AfricaBusinessChief has listed the hotel chains by the numbers of properties they own or manage in African countries. Marriott International tops the list, with 149 hotels in 20 countries. This is the list:

  2. AccorHotels – 114 hotels, 20 countries 
  3. Tsogo Sun – 96 hotels, 7 countries 
  4. City Lodge Hotel Group – 59 hotels, 4 countries 
  5. Radisson Hotel Group – 42 hotels, 20 countries 
  6. Louvre Hotels Group – 41 hotels, 13 countries 
  7. Hilton Hotels & Resorts – 39 hotels, 14 countries 
  8. Intercontinental Hotels Group – 28 hotels, in 10 countries 
  9. Best Western – 24 hotels, 10 countries 
  10. Hyatt Hotels Group – 6 hotels, 4 countries
