What do you prefer while you spend your connecting time on an airport: are you going to eat a soggy sandwich, while strolling through the shopping center for hours? Or do you prefer some quality time in a fine dining restaurant?

According to Business Traveller USA, most international airport lounges present experiences that include art, museums, gardens, cinemas, local breweries as well as a multitude of food options. Airports have improved their food offer tremendously over the years. Many airports currently offer Michelin-level restaurants that fuel the mind, body and soul.

“Sorry soggy sandwiches are now a distant secondary option at most top-tier airports and lounges”, the magazine concludes. “Local fare, high-end bistros, and luxury dining once only found in cities like Paris, Tokyo or Seoul are now an everyday part of the airport experience.”

Some airports, like Geneva and Stuttgart, now even offer Michelin-rated dining. The cuisine around the world’s best airports has gone from a quick bite in the food court to a quick meal that delivers a gastronomic experience. The options are virtually endless, ranging from caviar at the Caviar House & Prunier Seafood Bar at London’s Heathrow to sushi at Tokyo’s Sushi Kyotatsu and French haute cuisine at Charles de Gaulle’s Ladurée restaurant.
